The Good Life  (Week #5, May 12-13th, 2012) Living the Good Life
The Good Life is a quality and of life – it is not a destination.
Luke 13:34 (GNT) Jerusalem, Jerusalem! You kill the prophets, you stone the messengers God has sent you! How many times I wanted to put my arms around all your people, just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would not let me! 
Psalm 16:11 (NKJ) You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore 
Joy is vital to living The Good Life.
Proverbs 15:13 (CEV) Happiness makes you smile; sorrow can crush you. 
Proverbs 15:13 (Message) A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face; a sad heart makes it hard to get through the day.
Proverbs 15:15 (CEB) All the days of the needy are hard, but a happy heart has a continual feast.
Proverbs 17:22 (NKJ) A merry heart does good, like medicine,but a broken spirit dries the bones.
Galatians 5:22 (NKJ) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

To get into the presence of God and into the good life requires a certain attitude of the heart
Psalm 100:1-2, 4 (NKJ) Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.  Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 
1. Practice gratefulness
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJ) In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 
Psalm 27:13 (NKJ) I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
2. Stop grumbling
1 Corinthians 10:10-11a (CEB) Let’s not grumble, like some of them did, and were killed by the destroyer.  These things happened to them as an example… 
3. Forgive
Matthew 18:21-35 (NKJ)
Philippians 4:4-5 (NKJ) Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 
4. Mind your own business
1 Thessalonians 4:11 (GNT) Make it your aim to live a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to earn your own living, just as we told you before. 
Proverbs 16:28 (CEB) Destructive people produce conflict; gossips alienate close friends. 
Ecclesiastes 10:20 (NKJ) Do not curse the king, even in your thought; do not curse the rich, even in your bedroom; for a bird of the air may carry your voice, and a bird in flight may tell the matter. 
5. Stop looking at what you don’t have
Philippians 4:11 (NKJ) Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.
6. Grow your own marriage
Ecclesiastes 9:9 (Message) Relish life with the spouse you love each and every day of your precarious life. Each day is God’s gift. 
Proverbs 5:18b-19 (NKJ) ….rejoice with the wife of your youth.   As a loving deer and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and always be enraptured with her love.   
Ephesians 5:25-29 (NKJ) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.  For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.
7. Stay in the spirit
Romans 14:17 (NKJ) For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
